Types of Child Support Orders
A child support order may originate through either an administrative proceeding with the Butler County Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) or by motion filed in the Butler County Domestic Relations Court.
Administrative Child Support Orders
For information on administrative child support proceedings, please contact the Butler County CSEA at 513-887-3362 or visit their web site at www.butlercountycsea.org.
CSEA does not charge filing fees or other costs for establishing a child support order.
Judicial Child Support Orders
To establish an initial (new) child support order through the Domestic Relations Court, you must proceed in one of the following ways:
- File a Divorce, Dissolution, or Legal Separation action
- File a Domestic Support action
To file a Domestic Support action you must be married to, but living separately from, the child’s/children’s other parent and not already have a Divorce, Dissolution, or Legal Separation case pending in this or any other court. Further, the child or children for whom you are seeking child support cannot be under the jurisdiction of any other court.
Filing an action with the court may require the advance payment of court costs and filing fees. Contact the Butler County Clerk of Courts at 513-887-3278 or visit the Clerk’s web site at www.butlercountyclerk.org for current information on filing fees.
